Join us for Studio Grand's Balkan Nights, an evening which features (not-so-strictly) Eastern European music. This series occurs on the third Friday of the month, so mark your calendar! The night is graciously curated by Kent Kessinger in association with Studio Grand. This month, we are proud to present local guitarist Alex Hand along with his quartet.

Alex Hand graduated from the University of Nevada in 2011 with a degree in jazz guitar performance and has toured nationally as a sideman in folk, jazz and gypsy swing groups. In 2015, he travelled to the Balkans to study folk music under the masters. Based in the bay area for four years, Alex leads his balkan folk jazz quartet which plays original music and arrangements of classic Bulgarian and Romanian folk tunes delivered with funky grooves, flamenco influences and a progressive rock flavor.
