Diaspora’s Red Poppy debut features an eclectic mix of music from Southern Europe and the Near East. Leah Sirkin, Steve Brock, and Tano Brock are the core members of this San Francisco family band. Special guests joining them for the night include Arabic drum master Faisal Zedan and dancer Nicole Maria.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Diaspora plays Sephardi music—music of the Jews of the Mediterranean—which has roots in the musical traditions of Medieval Spain. The soulful and lively songs in varied meters are sung in Ladino (Judeo-Spanish). Diaspora also performs tunes from Greece, Turkey, the Balkans, and Afghanistan.
